Hi, I have recently created a new two node Server 2012 Datacentre cluster that is hosting approximately 50 Virtual Servers, this is connected to an EMC VNX5300 SAN over ISCSI using MPIO, the cluster also has multiple connections to the core network for local and VM traffic.
The VM's are installed onto the CSV volume and live migration is working fine. The previous cluster hosting these VM's was running Server 2008 R2; this was backed up by DPM 2012 without issues.
I have installed DPM 2012 SP1 beta on a separate Windows 2008R2 physical server that is connected to the SAN via ISCSI and also connected to the core network. The DPM server also has a separate NAS device that is locally attached for DPM disk storage.
Now that the VM's are running on the 2012 server I have been unable to backup the Hyper-V images, I have created a new protection group with the VM's listed individually and also several local files on the physical hosts; the local files backup fine.
In the event log of the hosts I am getting the following errors:
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0x80070005, Access is denied.
. This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or requestor process.
Operation:
Gathering Writer Data
Context:
Writer Class Id: {e8132975-6f93-4464-a53e-1050253ae220}
Writer Name: System Writer
Writer Instance ID: {5ef7bfca-8cd1-42af-8eb2-4fe27ec2b1e4}
I have amended the DCOM identity permissions as seen in other posts, but as I am connecting to an EMC SAN I wasn’t sure how relevant this would be.
The initial backup and synchronisation starts okay, but it hangs with 0MB transferred and then reports that the image is inconsistent, any help you can give would give would be appreciated.
